DESCRIPTION:

Ben Goymour is one of the country's foremost seascape artists. He captures the light beautifully and the detail in the sea means the viewer feels like they can hear the waves moving in and out on the shore. Each piece of art is lovingly created by Ben, and has cemented his status as a leading light in the UK's art community.

After leaving Army life as a British Commando and becoming a carpenter, I first picked up a brush in February 2017 after a hiking trip to the Lake District. I couldn't afford a painting I loved in a local gallery, so decided on my return to paint one for myself. Little did I know that a new career was about to unfold....

I became completely obsessed with painting using every spare moment I could. Getting up at 4am to paint before a full days work on site for my building company, then painting all evening became a regular pattern for me.

After a year of obsessive painting my wife approached some local galleries and the UK's top Art Agency (without me knowing, and for which I will be fever grateful for) and that became the start of my new self-taught career as a professional artist.

My inspiration comes from my passion for nature and adventure. My weekends are filled with wild camping and hiking where my dog and I spend hours studying how light falls on different landscapes around the UK.

Light has very much become the main focus of my fine art landscape and seascape paintings. I love to create a sense of feeling and mood, which is only possible when seen through the eyes of the beholder. I try to capture that "you just had to be there" feeling in every painting.

People often ask me what my painting style is. My answer is I don't have one! I love creating new ranges and experimenting with different "styles" and techniques. For example, my latest contemporary animal artwork collection is miles away from my how I paint my Seascapes, but isn't the power of "Artistic Licence "is a wonderful thing?
